How to Read Forex Quotes

If you are new to the world of trading, forex quotes can be pretty confusing. However, it takes just a little know-how, to read them.

What does a foreign exchange quote look like? Look at the following example:

EUR/USD = 1.2526
The above formula shows the foreign exchange rate between the euro and the US dollar.
Remember that in any forex quote, two currencies will always be present. This is because with forex trading, you are buying one currency as you sell another currency.

The first currency listed in a foreign exchange quote is called the "base currency." The second currency in the formula is the "quote currency." Therefore, forex quotes show us the relationship between prices for the two currencies in the quote.
The exchange rate is made up by showing how many units of the quote currency you have to pay in order to buy one unit of the base currency.

The euro is the base currency, above, and US dollars are the quote currency. The quote shows how each currency trades relative to the other. If you want to buy one euro unit, therefore, you will have to sell 1.2526 US dollar units.

Next is the "bid/ask" spread. The bid/ask spread is the alternative to broker commissions in the forein exhange market. Brokers get paid for their work via the bid/ask spread.

With the bid/ask spread added to the above example, it looks like this:

EUR/USD = 1.2526/1.2528
Simplified, it looks like this:
EUR/USD = 1.2526/8

Brokers make their money when they sell currencies for slightly more than they buy them. This is legal and every broker does it. However, the spread can differ significantly between brokers.

Why You Should Give the Forex a Second Look

The foreign exchange market is the largest and oldest financial market in the world. It is the biggest and most liquid market in the world, and it is traded mainly through the 24 hour-a-day interbank currency market – the primary market for currencies. The forex market is a cash (or 'spot') interbank market. By comparison, the currency futures market is only 1% as big.

Foreign exchange simply means the buying of one currency and selling another at the same time. In other words, the currency of one country is exchanged for those of another. The currencies of the world are on a floating exchange rate, and are always traded in pairs: Euro/Dollar, Dollar/Yen, etc. In excess of 85 percent of all daily transactions involve trading of the major currencies: Australian Dollar, British Pound, Canadian Dollar, Japanese Yen, Swiss Franc, and the U.S. Dollar.

Unlike the futures and stock markets, trading of currencies is not centralized on an exchange forex literally follows the sun around the world. Trading moves from major banking centres of the U.S. to Australia and New Zealand, to the Far East, to Europe and finally back to the U.S.

In the past, the forex interbank market was not available to small speculators due to the large minimum transaction sizes and often-stringent financial requirements. Banks, major currency dealers and the occasional huge speculator used to be the principal dealers. Only they were able to take advantage of the currency market's fantastic liquidity and strong trending nature of many of the world's primary currency exchange rates.

Today, foreign exchange market maker brokers such as FX Solutions are able to break down the larger sized inter-bank units, and offer small traders the opportunity to buy or sell any number of these smaller units (lots). These brokers give virtually any size trader, including individual speculators or smaller companies, the option to trade the same rates and price movements as the large players who once dominated the market. Market makers quote buying and selling rates for currencies, and they profit on the difference between their buying and selling rates.
Forex trading has enjoyed exponential growth and widespread popularity over the past few years. It is only now that online foreign exchange trading is starting to get noticed. Until recently, large international banks were the big dogs in the foreign exchange market, selectively allowing access via telephone trading to Fortune 1000 companies, large funds, high-net worth individuals, etc.

Deciding on Your Forex Brokers

Getting a Forex broker is a very crucial step in venturing to Forex trading.

This is why it is important for you to get a broker that has all the necessary qualities so that you can have a bright future ahead of your trading venture. There are so many brokers out there that it could be pretty hard for you to decide which one to get. Nevertheless, here are some of the qualities that you should look for in a broker, which could help you determine if the broker in question is a good catch or not.

Registration
First of all, you should confirm that your potential broker is for real and is registered with one of those currency regulators, like: National Futures Association, Commodity Futures Trading Association, Securities And Exchange Commission and the like. You should also notice whether your proposed broker sports a dealing desk or doesn't. However, you should know that dealing desk brokers would mean that you'd be trading against brokers and would eventually lose money. Hence, you should get a non-dealing desk type of broker, in which you would directly trade at interbank level along with matching orders.

Reputation
Of course, having a good reputation is very important. This highly counts, especially when you're considering on opening an account. You should go for a reputed broker that has pretty good feedback. It would be best that you research first on the broker. It would be helpful to search on the Internet. Try looking at different forex-related forums or blogs and see what they have to say about that specific broker. Such kind of reviews would give you an idea of the broker's reputation in the trading industry.

Account Size

A good broker would also allow you to trade having a very flexible lot size. This would allow you to have the opportunity to try out different strategies using your account. Most brokers would offer mini-accounts and standard accounts; these are the most common that you would find. The mini type would be good to start out with and in time, you could always upgrade to the standard type.

Margin

Majority of brokers let you have the leverage of 1:50 to 1:400. It would be best to get one that has adjustable brokerage. In this way, if ever your need to draw-down, you could still trade using a low leverage.

Spread

Spread would be the difference between the given bid and the ask price. Majority of forex pairs would have a spread between 1-5 pips. It would always be best if you get a lower spread, since this means that you'd get the more profit. Wider spreads are for the accommodation of the affiliate's expenses. Hence, it would be better to get a broker that doesn't make use of any affiliate programs. You should also get one that sports very low spreads like 1-2 pips.

Things to Know to Deal With Foreign Currency Exchange

The main purpose of the foreign currency exchange market is to make money but it is different from other equity markets.

There are various technical terminologies and strategies a trader must know to deal with currency exchange. This article will give an insight into the normal operations in the foreign currency exchange market.

In the Currency Exchange market the commodity that is traded is the foreign currency. These foreign currencies are always priced in pairs. The value of one unit of a foreign currency is always expressed in terms of another foreign currency. Thus all trades incorporate the purchase and sale of two foreign currencies at the same time. You have to buy a currency only when you expect the value of that currency to increase in the future. When it increases in value, you have to purchase the currencies you have bought to make your profit. When you buy or sell a currency then the trade is called open trade or in open position and can be closed only when you sell or buy an equivalent amount of currency.

You must also understand how the currencies are quoted in the currency exchange market. They are always quoted in pairs as USD/JPY. The first currency is the base currency and the second one is the quote currency. The quote value depends on the currency conversion rates between the two currencies under consideration. Mostly the USD will be used as based currency but sometimes euro, pound sterling is also used.

The profit of the broker depends on the bid and the ask price. The bid is the price the broker is ready to pay to buy base currency for exchanging the quote currency. The ask is the price the broker is ready to sell the base currency for exchanging the quote currency. The difference between these two prices is called the spread which determines the profit or loss of the trade.

The bid and ask prices are quoted in five figures. The spread is measured in pip which is defined as the smallest change in price based on the current conversion rates of the currencies under consideration. For USD/JPY if the bid price is 136.50 and ask price is 136.55 then spread is 5 pips and you have to recover the five pips from your profit.

Margin used in the foreign currency exchange terminology refers to the deposit that a trader makes to his account to cover any losses expected in the future. A high degree of leverage is supplied by the brokers to traders for currency exchange. The ratio is 100:1 normally. The brokerage system will calculate the funds required for the current trade and will check for the availability of margin before executing any trade.
You have to understand the characteristics of foreign currency exchange market before investing your money. This market has extreme liquidity and always alive giving you wide spread opportunities to make profits. As there is so much potential for gain, there is potential for great loss too. You have to spend your time and effort and watch the market and trade at the right time to reap the profit.

Comparing Stock in Forex:

Like stock market exchange, Forex comprehends brokers.

Investors often open up accounts, which they believe that the broker supplies as a stepping-pea to avoid risks. Traders make this mistake often and feel annoyed when they only have their self to blame when the broker lets them down. Traders sometimes do not fully relate to brokers duty, which his responsibility is primarily to use checkpoints with limited access to spinning prestige. Traders have the sole responsibility to keep track of the stock market or the Forex exchange industry if they decide to buy/sell in the business.

Brokers too many times demand to adhere to codes. The brokers often stand fast up to date with in-things in the market, surprisingly the Foreign Markets included. Brokers spend unlimited hours scoping out the greatest pips and spreads in stock or Forex exchange. Too often the investor will tot basics in the low spreads intended for buying or selling pips with higher risks.

It is wise to always scrutinize the versions, advice and circumspectly ante venturing into stocks. Brokers will manage your account, yet you should never expect brokers to watch out for the risks in stock market or Forex. Some brokers take heart* on earnings from your account, yet the broker sole debits a warrant.

Riding with margins, brokers focus on prevailing lots, thus the weight could decry at one privileged class to one. Margins factor into pips, which sometimes drop at the atomic rates of 1%.
Margins at this rate could open speculation and inspire curiosity that could lead to higher stakes in the stock game. Those least experienced in stocks or Forex should invest some time to learn the values of pips and the rates that could instantly charge at $10, i.e. per unit and at rates at 100,000.
Margins work in union with "mini lots." The pip value would still be 1 percent, yet the size of the lots is what croupiers' focus on. Plentifulness gives brokers and investors size flexes, it could facilitate little access for operators in the market to identify with vassalages size subject to no their own investments, which could be $1 low

What is forex Trading

Foreign Exchange Market, or Forex as it is commonly called, is an international exchange market to buy and sell different currencies from around the world. An investor has the ability to buy and sell these currencies in order to create gains from small movements in the value of one currency over another. The forex market is open from Monday at 0:00 GMT until Friday at 10:00 GMT. For this reason Forex traders are not limited to the general time constraints of the New York Stock Exchange or NASDAQ.

This versatility attracts many investors to become Forex traders. The liquidity of the Foreign Exchange Market is also very attractive for the Forex investor as trades range from 1 to 1.5 trillion dollars on a daily basis. These massive amounts of trades make it extremely difficult for any one trader to affect the market.
Foreign Exchange Trading is simply the purchase and sales of currency based on the strength of the currency and the fluctuation in the value of that currency. For example, if one were to invest $1,000 against the British pound at 1.7999 with a 1% margin and anticipate the exchange rate to climb. If that occurs and you close the exchange rate at 1.8050 you would earn roughly $400. Forex is giving you a 40% return on your investment.

Forex offers the possibility of huge profits in relatively short periods of time. The stock exchange is very different in that positions are generally maintained over a longer period of time. Although there are day traders, Forex traders have much shorter hold times on positions. Similar to the stock market marginal accounts can be obtained in the Foreign Exchange Market as well.
Forex marginal accounts are very engaging as they allow Forex traders to take large positions without having to make a large deposit. In many circumstances one can fund a marginal account with .05% the necessary funds. In other words, $500 would allow a $100,000 position. In order to trade Forex effectively and profitably, one must have some type of method to follow. There are two methods used in determining what Foreign Exchange trades one should make. There are two methods, fundamental Forex analysis, and technical Forex analysis.
Technical analysis is the most commonly used practice and uses the assumption that the changes that occur in the Foreign Exchange Market happened for a reason and are accurate. The belief is that if a currency has been trading towards a high then that currency will mostly continue towards that high with the adverse being true as well. The technical Forex view does not try to make long term predictions about the market but instead simply tries to take advantage of what has already been seen in the past.

The fundamental Forex method takes into account all aspects of the country in which the currency is traded. Things such as the economy, the countries prime interest rates, war, poverty level, and other factors are taken into account. If there is a sharp rise in the prime interest rate a Forex trader may take a position based on that information.

What are Your Options Regarding Forex Options Brokers?

Forex option brokers can generally be divided into two separate categories:

forex brokers who offer online forex option trading platforms and forex brokers who only broker forex option trading via telephone trades placed through a dealing/brokerage desk. A few forex option brokers offer both online forex option trading as well a dealing/brokerage desk for investors who prefer to place orders through a live forex option broker.

The trading account minimums required by different forex option brokers vary from a few thousand dollars to over fifty thousand dollars. Also, forex option brokers may require investors to trade forex options contracts having minimum notional values (contract sizes) up to $500,000. Last, but not least, certain types of forex option contracts can be entered into and exited at any time while other types of forex option contracts lock you in until expiration or settlement. Depending on the type of forex option contract you enter into, you might get stuck the wrong way with an option contract that you can not trade out of. Before trading, investors should inquire with their forex option brokers about initial trading account minimums, required contract size minimums and contract liquidity.
There are a number of different forex option trading products offered to investors by forex option brokers. We believe it is extremely important for investors to understand the distinctly different risk characteristics of each of the forex option trading products mentioned below that are offered by firms that broker forex options.

Plain Vanilla Forex Options Broker - Plain vanilla options generally refer to standard put and call option contracts traded through an exchange (however, in the case of forex option trading, plain vanilla options would refer to the standard, generic option contracts that are traded through an over-the-counter (OTC) forex dealer or clearinghouse). In simplest terms, vanilla forex options would be defined as the buying or selling of a standard forex call option contract or forex put option contract.
There are only a few forex option broker/dealers who offer plain vanilla forex options online with real-time streaming quotes 24 hours a day. Most forex option brokers and banks only broker forex options via telephone. Vanilla forex options for major currencies have good liquidity and you can easily enter the market long or short, or exit the market any time day or night.
Vanilla forex option contracts can be used in combination with each other and/or with spot forex contracts to form a basic strategy such as writing a covered call, or much more complex forex trading strategies such as butterflies, strangles, ratio spreads, synthetics, etc. Also, plain vanilla options are often the basis of forex option trading strategies known as exotic options.

Exotic Forex Options Broker - First, it is important to note that there a couple of different forex definitions for "exotic" and we don’t want anyone getting confused. The first definition of a forex "exotic" refers to any individual currency that is less broadly traded than the major currencies. The second forex definition for "exotic" is the one we refer to on this website - a forex option contract (trading strategy) that is a derivative of a standard vanilla forex option contract.
To understand what makes an exotic forex option "exotic," you must first understand what makes a forex option "non-vanilla." Plain vanilla forex options have a definitive expiration structure, payout structure and payout amount. Exotic forex option contracts may have a change in one or all of the above features of a vanilla forex option. It is important to note that exotic options, since they are often tailored to a specific’s investor’s needs by an exotic forex options broker, are generally not very liquid, if at all.

Understanding the Basics of Currency Trading

Investors and traders around the world are looking to the Forex market as a new speculation opportunity. But, how are transactions conducted in the Forex market? Or, what are the basics of Forex Trading? Before adventuring in the Forex market we need to make sure we understand the it, otherwise we will find ourselves lost where we less expected. This is what this article is aimed to, to understand the basics of currency trading.

What is traded in the Forex market?

The instrument traded by Forex traders and investors are currency pairs. A currency pair is the exchange rate of one currency over another. The most traded currency pairs are:
USD/CHF: Swiss franc
GBP/USD: Pound
USD/CAD: Canadian dollar
USD/JPY: Yen
EUR/USD: Euro
AUD/USD: Aussie
These six currency pairs generate up to 85% of the overall volume in the Forex market. So, for instance, if a trader goes long on the Euro, she or he is simultaneously buying the EUR and selling the USD. If the same trader goes short or sells the Aussie, she or he is simultaneously selling the AUD and buying the USD.
The first currency of each currency pair is referred as the base currency, while second currency is referred as the counter or quote currency. Each currency pair is expressed in units of the counter currency needed to get one unit of the base currency. If the price or quote of the EUR/USD is 1.2545, it means that 1.2545 US dollars are needed to get one EUR.
Bid/Ask Spread
All currency pairs are commonly quoted with a bid and ask price. The bid (always lower than the ask) is the price your broker is willing to buy at, thus the trader should sell at this price. The ask is the price your broker is willing to sell at, thus the trader should buy at this price.
EUR/USD 1.2645/48 or 1.2645/8
The bid price is 1.2645
The ask price is 1.2648

A Pip
A pip is the minimum incremental move a currency pair can make. A pip stands for price interest point. A move in the EUR/USD from 1.2545 to 1.2560 equals 15 pips. And a move in the USD/JPY from 112.35 to 113.40 equals 105 pips.
Margin Trading (leverage)
In contrast with other financial markets where you require the full deposit of the amount traded, in the Forex market you require only a margin deposit. The rest will be granted by your broker.
The leverage provided by some brokers goes up to 400:1. This means that you require only 1/400 or .25% in balance to open a position (plus the floating gains/losses.) Most brokers offer 100:1, where every trader requires 1% in balance to open a position.
The standard lot size in the Forex market is $100,000 USD.
For instance, a trader wants to get long one lot in EUR/USD and he or she is using 100:1 leverage.
To open such position, he or she requires 1% in balance or $1,000 USD.
Of course it is not advisable to open a position with such limited funds in our trading balance. If the trade goes against our trader, the position is to be closed by the broker. This takes us to our next important term.
Margin Call
A margin call occurs when the balance of the trading account falls below the maintenance margin (capital required to open one position, 1% when the leverage used is 100:1, 2% when leverage used is 50:1, and so on.) At this moment, the broker sells off (or buys back in the case of short positions) all your trades, leaving the trader "theoretically" with the maintenance margin.
Most of the time margin calls occur when money management is not properly applied.

The Seven Most Traded Currencies in FOREX

Currencies are traded in dollar amounts called “lots”. One lot is equal to $1,000, which controls $100,000 in currency. This is what is known as the "margin". You can control $100,000 worth of currency for only 1,000 dollars. This is what is called “High Leverage”.
Currencies are always traded in pairs in the FOREX. The pairs have a unique notation that expresses what currencies are being traded. The symbol for a currency pair will always be in the form ABC/DEF. ABC/DEF is not a real currency pair, it is an example of a symbol for a currency pair. In this example ABC is the symbol for one countries currency and DEF is the symbol for another countries currency.

Here are some of the common symbols used in the Forex:
USD - The US Dollar EUR - The currency of the European Union "EURO" GBP - The British Pound JPN - The Japanese Yen CHF - The Swiss Franc AUD - The Australian Dollar CAD - The Canadian Dollar
There are symbols for other currencies as well, but these are the most commonly traded ones.
A currency can never be traded by itself. So you can not ever trade a EUR by itself. You always need to compare one currency with another currency to make a trade possible.
Some of the common PAIRS are:
EUR/USD Euro / US Dollar "Euro"
USD/JPY US Dollar / Japanese Yen "Dollar Yen"
GBP/USD British Pound / US Dollar "Cable"
USD/CAD US Dollar / Canadian Dollar "Dollar Canada"
AUD/USD Australian Dollar/US Dollar "Aussie Dollar"
USD/CHF US Dollar / Swiss Franc "Swissy"
EUR/JPY Euro / Japanese Yen "Euro Yen"

The listed currency pairs above look like a fraction. The numerator (top of the fraction or "left" of the / however you want to SEE it) is called the base currency. The denominator (bottom of the fraction or "right" of the /however you want to SEE it) is called the counter currency. When you place an order to buy the EUR/USD, for instance, you are actually buying the EUR and selling the USD. If you were to sell the pair, you would be selling the EUR and buying the USD. So if you buy or sell a currency PAIR, you are buying/selling the base currency. You are always doing the opposite of what you did with to base currency with the counter currency.

The FOREX Market- Trade with your head not your heart!

Sounds simple…right? In actuality, this is the number one reason why day traders lose their shirts.

They let their emotions get the best of them and end up doing something real stupid. Trust me I’ve done it.
When trading currency, you need to take yourself away from the platform and look at your trades in actual bills not numerical values on a computer screen. For example, let’s say you short the USD/JPY for a 50 mini-lot right before a data release and it tanks. The USD/JPY goes down about 50 some odd pips and now you’re up $2500 in about thirty seconds.
Now, if you were smart, you would close the position and take your profit, but you’re not and you decide to let it ride. The market goes down about another 10 pips. So, now you’re up $3000 and you still won’t close it. You think that it’s going to keep tanking and that you could make 5-6k on this one trade…wishful thinking.

All of sudden the market retraces and shoots back up 20 pips, your still up about $2000, but now you tell yourself, I’ll wait until it goes back down a few pips and then close it. Too late, the market ignites and now you’re break-even and then you’re negative. In the end you take a $500 loser, which isn’t too bad, but considering you were up $3000 it’s like you lost $3500.
Now, let’s pretend you did this same trade with actual, physical dollar bills. Now or days most people trade from a three wide spread, so let’s say that you gave a trade booker $150 cash to place a short USD/JPY 50 lot. The data is released and this man keeps giving you $50 bills and before you know it you have $3000 in your hands. In order to keep this money all you have to say is close.

You decide to press your luck and wait and the market continues to trend down and now you have $3500 cash. All of sudden, the market begins to retrace and this nice young man starts taking $50 from you each pip it retraces. How many pips does the market have to retrace before you say close? Maybe, ten pips? Once you saw actual dollar bills being taken away from you, you would throw in the towel. So, how does one improve their money management skills?
First of all, realize that you are trading real money. I’m sure you realize that the money you are trading is real money, but do you conceptualize it? When you make a few hundred or a few thousand dollars trading, do you feel like someone just handed you cash? Of course not! Every time you’re trading, no matter if you are profitable or not profitable visualize and grasp the outcome. Don’t just watch your balance and equity fluctuate; you need to relate your loss and gains to everyday life.

Facts About Forex Trading Every Novice Trader Should Know

1. Forex Trading
Is Not Easy!

Of course you wouldn't expect it to be with the rewards on offer and the fact its not easy is shown by the fact that 95% of traders lose; this isn't because they cant learn to win, anyone can but because they fall for myths or follow vendors, with junk systems which leads on the next point.

2. Forex Robots With Back Tested Results Will Wipe You Out

The industry is huge but all the heavily promoted robots have a problem - they have never been traded! They produce meaningless, back tests on paper and they never repeat. Any trader who thinks he will get rich by spending a $100 is naïve, stupid or both.

3. The Normal Work Ethic Does NOT Apply

In life you get rewarded for working hard but that's no guarantee of success in Forex. The good news is if you work smart, your gains can still enormous, you just need to acquire the right knowledge.

Another bit of good news is the fact that Forex trading is simple and anyone can learn to win. Simple systems work better than complicated ones, so education is no help in the Forex market, as complex systems have to many elements to break and get turned to dust by the market.

4. Mathematics and Forex are Not Related

You see lots of people selling predictive, mathematical theories but the definition of a mathematical theory is it must be objective and work ALL of the time and no such theory exists. Forex markets move to probabilities NOT certainties and that's why mathematical or complex theories lose.

5. Leverage Will Kill You

It's a fact that more traders lose through over leverage than any other reason. Today, you can get 400:1 with many brokers but 10:1 is ample for most traders leverage up to high and you will get wiped out.

One Of The Major Indicators: Consumer Sentiment

Survey of consumer attitudes concerning both the present situation as well as expectations regarding economic conditions conducted by the University of Michigan.

Five hundred consumers are surveyed each month. The level of consumer sentiment is directly related to the strength of consumer spending. Consumer spending accounts for two-thirds of the economy, so the markets are always dying to know what consumers are up to and how they might behave in the near future. The more confident consumers are about the economy and their own personal finances, the more likely they are to spend. With this in mind, it’s easy to see how the index of consumer attitudes gives insight to the direction of the economy. Changes in consumer sentiment and retail sales don’t move in tandem month by month.

Finding Forex Brokers With A 1.5 Pip Spread

Where can you get a broker with a 1.5 pip spread? Lot and lots of places. The key is to find an honest broker with that kind of spread. You see, there is something called pip shading, and some brokers do it to pretend to have a really small spread like 1.5.

In actuality, the spread is 3 or more, but the only show you half of it (and they always give you the worse half). So they're cheating you, but you can't see it. The simplest key then is to find a broker whose spread isn't fixed. If the spread fluctuates, what I mean by that is that sometimes the spread is 1.5 and other times is 4 pips, that's an honest broker.
I know, that sounds crazy, but it's not. Market conditions change. Risk increases for the broker at certain times, so either he shades the pips and cheats you, or he increases the spread so you can honestly see exactly what's happening to the spread.

So, you need to find a broker that moves the spread dynamically with market conditions. How do you find a broker like that?

Most brokers that do that are ECN brokers. They are quite different from brokers that offer Metatrader or any kind of charting. They give you actual access to the forex market. Yes, with them, you are actually trading with the big banks yourself. With a traditional forex broker you are never interfacing with the actual market. The broker trades with you, and then he trades with the interbank market.

How to Pick the Right Forex Trading Broker

Picking the right forex trading broker can be a tedious exercise for most traders. There are more than a hundred online brokers today and more are coming on board. Since the foreign exchange market is worth trillions of dollars, it offers lucrative opportunities for brokers to set up their firm online. The challenge is with too many choices, it is hard to decide which is best for you. This piece of information would provide you with the necessary tips to pick an ideal forex trading broker.

Since the foreign exchange market is decentralized, it can be hard to identify fraudulent practices by unscrupulous brokers. When finding a broker, do make sure to follow the following pointers and your chances of finding an honest and reliable forex trading broker are dramatically increased!

1. Always request for references that you can speak with.
2. Do a check with the local regulatory agencies and make sure that the forex trading broker is registered. For US-based brokers, see if they are registered as Futures Commission Merchants (FCM) with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and registered with National Futures Association (NFA).
3. Compare the account details such as the minimum deposit required, leverage, spreads and so on. Ask them specifically are there any commissions chargeable, lot fees, etc. This is to ensure you do not incur hidden costs. Some sneaky traders deliberately give you an impression that they are the cheapest to use but in actual fact load you on hidden charges.

Housing slide worsens; Spain joins recession club

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. housing market took a sharp turn for the worse while Spain joined a growing list of countries in a recession that shows no sign of abating.Existing U.S. home sales and prices both fell at a record pace last month, according to a report released on Tuesday, further evidence that the financial turmoil which intensified in September was driving consumers deeper into retreat.
"The quickly deteriorating conditions in the job market, stock market and consumer confidence in October and November have knocked down home sales to another level," said Lawrence Yun, chief economist for the National Association of Realtors.
Sales of newly built U.S. homes slowed to the weakest level since 1991, according to separate figures from the Commerce Department.

Housing is at the root of the year-long U.S. recession and the global malaise, and economists see little hope of a lasting recovery until that market stabilizes. If it deteriorates significantly, that would increase foreclosures and bank losses, putting greater strain on government efforts to revive growth.
Modest U.S. stock market gains evaporated after the housing data was released, pushing the Dow Jones industrial average down 0.6 percent in afternoon trading. European shares closed flat, while Tokyo's market was closed for the emperor's birthday.
The U.S. economy shrank at an unrevised 0.5 percent rate in the third quarter, official data showed. Consumer spending plunged 3.8 percent, the biggest drop since 1980."The bottom line: Bah humbug. Recession, recession, recession," said Jennifer Lee, an economist with BMO Capital Markets in Toronto.
Economists expect a much bigger decline in economic activity in the current quarter as job losses pile up and households and businesses curtail spending. That in turn is hurting U.S. trading partners around the world.
An economist at the San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank said the U.S. recession would likely last 18 months, making it the longest since World War Two, with unemployment peaking at a 25-year high of 8.4 percent.

JOIN THE CLUB
Britain, Spain and New Zealand added to evidence that global stimulus measures, bank bailouts and deep interest rates cuts may not prevent the worst downturn in decades.
The British economy shrank 0.6 percent in the third quarter, the worst quarterly decline since 1990 and a deeper drop than the earlier 0.5 percent estimate.

New Zealand's economy declined a seasonally adjusted 0.4 percent in the third quarter, the biggest drop in eight years, following a 0.2 percent fall in the previous quarter.

Spain succumbed to recession for the first time in 15 years. Spain's ISA activity indicator, which tracks gross domestic product, contracted 1.5 percent year-on-year between October and December, according to Economy Ministry data.
"The ISA shows the trend, and the trend is that the fall in fourth quarter GDP is going to be steeper than in the third," a ministry spokeswoman said.
Governments around the world have ramped up spending to try to cushion the blow of the worst financial crisis in 80 years, a policy underscored by a second day of record-large government debt sales in the United States.
The U.S. government sold $28 billion worth of 5-year notes, after a $38 billion 2-year note auction on Monday. Both drew bids worth about twice as much as the amount on offer, suggesting that at least for now there were enough willing buyers to soak up the growing debt supply.

Even more stimulus is on the way when U.S. President-elect Barack Obama takes office next month. His staff is discussing how much money Congress should authorize for a package that is likely to be well over $600 billion.
Lawrence Summers, Obama's pick to head the White House National Economic Council, said without prompt action on a stimulus package "we will almost certainly face the worst economic downturn since the second World War."
Governments should be ready to increase their spending on economic programs if circumstances require it, the International Monetary Fund's chief economist Olivier Blanchard said in comments published on Tuesday.
"The coming months will be very bad. Halting this loss of confidence, providing stimulus and, if necessary, replacing private demand are essential if we want to prevent the recession from becoming a Great Depression," Blanchard told French newspaper Le Monde.
